Model 9700 Telemetry Application Module (TAM)
The Telemetry Application Monitor (TAM) 9700 is a modular, rack mounted monitoring system that is configurable to address a wide range of headend or hubmonitoring requirements. It communicates with the OmniMCU™ controller through either the 2-way RF data stream or a direct RS-485 connection to one of the OmniStat™ communication cards. The TAM system consists of a Communications Control Module (CCM) andup to 8 application specific Serial Application Monitoring (SAM) modules. The CCM module contains a power supply and a FlexStat™ communications module. The CCM performs the dual tasks of communicating with the OmniMCU™ and communicating with the SAM modules through a backplane serial bus. The TAM also has a front panel jack that is used for a local craft interface.
SAM modules are application specific monitoring modules that plug into the TAM chassis. SAM modules can be designed to satisfy any headend monitoring requirement.
A special series of SAM communications modules is available for monitoring various brands and types of headend transmission equipment such as optical transmitters, optical receivers, and video modulators. Each of these SAM modules monitors a “daisy chain” of single vendor equipment. SAM modules are available for all leading manufacturers of headend transmission equipment.
AM also offers a 9125 SIMS (Scanning Ingress Monitoring System) module that is used for return path management. This SAM module will monitor important headend RF parameters such as return signal levels, return ingress and noise levels.
SAM modules are fully interoperable, allowing for numerous monitoring combinations within a single TAM chassis. This flexibility provides the unprecedented capability to integrate the monitoring of an entire headend with a single piece of equipment.
