The SAM-OmniStar is a member of the SAM family of headend monitoring transponders. The SAM-OmniStar is specifically designed to monitor the Motorola OmniStar™ headend products. The SAM connects to a daisy chain of Motorola equipment using a RJ-11 cable (included). Acting as a proxy for the Motorola equipment, the SAMOmniStar collects the monitoring information using Motorola’s proprietary protocol and presents the information to the OmniMCU™ in a format identical to other OmniStat™ transponders.
The SAM-OS plugs into any slot in AM’s Telemetry Application Monitor (TAM 9700). Any combination of SAM modules may be used in a TAM 9700 to create a monitoring solution tailored to the unique combination of equipment in the headend.
This unit communicates with the OmniMCU using either the RS485 interface or the RF modem in the TAM 9700 chassis. The SAM itself does not have any frequency dependencies.
The SAM-OS is controlled by the OmniStat control system consisting of the OmniMCU connected to a computer system running the Omni2000™ software. The SAM can monitor the full set of parameters provided by the Motorola OmniStar equipment.
Two front panel LEDs indicate communications with the OmniMCU and Motorola Omnistar equipment.
